Bernice Carter and Michelle Escort will receive the Social Security Adminsitration Commissioner's Team Award in Baltimore, MD on April 20, 2006.  

 

Sheila Lewis completed her first term as Chapter President with an impressive and extensive record of achievement.

 

On April 14, 2004, the Louisiana Social Action Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. acknowledged the following sorors for their foresight, dedication and vision of Red & White Day at the Louisiana Legislature:

          Ruth Crawford

          Jean Dyer

          Audrey Nabors Jackson

          Mildred Marcelle

          Corrine Maybuce

          Y. Jean Whitley

 

As a result of their first efforts in 1985, Red & White Day has grown from a Delta Louisiana tradition to one 

observed by the Sorority's 950 chapters throughout the country.

 

 

Jerrie Booker was elected Vice President of the East Baton Rouge Federation of Teachers.

 

 

Lenora Brown was one of eight recipients throughout the US to receive the 2004 Ready to Learn Service Award.  This award is indicative of the services provided to children to increase and enhance their learning skills through various innovative methods.  Soror Brown was honored during the Fourth Annual Fred Rogers Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.  Levar Burton, actor/director, presented the award to Soror Brown.

 

 

Katrina Cannon earned her graduate degree from Southern University.

 

 

Audrey Nabors Jackson was elected to the Board of the Zachary Community Credit Union.  Soror Nabors Jackson was re-appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of the Baton Rouge Recreation and Parks Commission (BREC).  She was also re-elected to the Louisiana Democratic State Central Committee, District 64.  Soror Nabors Jackson ran unopposed for her fourth term.

 

 

Chi Joseph was honored as Delta of the Year for her dedicated service to the chapter in 2003/2004.  She also earned her graduate degree from Southern University.

 

 

Debra G. Lazare was elected to the Board of Family Services of Greater Baton Rouge. 

 

Twana Malveaux has been elected Treasurer of the Greater Baton Rouge Pan-Hellenic Council.
 


Gloria Simmons was honored at the 33rd Annual Volunteer Activist Award Luncheon.  Soror Simmons iwas recognized for her service to the National Conference for Community & Justice, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center; St. George Catholic Church, East Baton Rouge Parish School System, the Walter Dumas/Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, the NAACP, the American Red Cross, Operation Upgrade, the National Outstanding Mathematics Teacher Selection Committee and, of course, Delta Sigma Theta.
